Sustainable design architect Edouard François’s latest project changes the face of social housing in Paris. The project, Eden Bio, features terraced houses arranged along pedestrian alleys set within densely planted organic gardens. The upper level units will be reached by external timber gantries and staircases enclosed in greenery. The 100 social housing unit development will be completed in early 2008.

The Real News interview with climate change journalist and communications development expert Afsan Chowdhury on the disappointing outcome of the Bali Climate Conference.

To add insult to injury, the conference had an enormous carbon footprint.

The 15,000 politicians, activists, MPs, journalists, and civil servants from 180 countries who travelled to Bali for the talks emitted between 60,000 and 100,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, not far short of what a country like Malawi or Chad emits in a year – for which host nation Indonesia planted 79 million trees to try and offset… all for very little accomplished. from EnviroStats!
