Cape Town’s oldest and most famous hotel, The Mount Nelson, is tackling climate change by feeding its restaurant leftovers to thousands of worms in South Africa’s biggest worm farm yet. The hotel has reduced its food waste by 70% and its gardens are enjoying the “worm tea” treats and vermi-compost that the new hotel employees produce while quietly saving the earth.

South Africa is looking at alternative ways to deal with landfill that is creating greenhouse gases. This project is predicted to just be the start of a trend within the hotel industry.

    brilliant!
I recently read about a method used in Korea called Em Bokashi.
3 million households use the system apparently.
It is an airless system without unpleasant smells.

    Hello,
I’m a french journalist, specialized in gardening. Actually,  I’m writing a book about vermicomposting and I found your publication on your web site. I wish to use your photos but I wonder if they are in jpg and if the resolution is high enough.
If it is so, could you please give me the authorization to publish them, with the mentions you wish.
    Sincerely yours
    JPC
