What happens to all those bottle caps that you remove from bottles before you recycle them? They end up in the bin, and make their way into landfills across the country. Here’s a project that will make them into something beautiful, a talking point, keeping bottle caps out of landfill and spreading the recycling message to everyone who sees your masterpiece. For full instructions on how to make a bottle-cap lampshade visit esprit cabane.

If you make one, please post a link to your image in comments, we’d love to see your works of art.

  • Great idea - using different bottle caps (of varying colors) - you could even match existing decor. Oh - even better! How about filling the cap with tightly wrapped newspaper (will look like a colorful spindle) - then the lampshade will veer away from the bottle-cap look and enter into a realm of detailed-art! Great stuff - keep it coming!

  • This is so darn cute! We can’t recycle bottle caps where I live because they don’t have a number on them. This would be a great project for dealing with them! Do you think a whole curtain would be too much?? … I may have to get on this one.

  • This is the first time I have been onto this site and i am very impressed. I have just set up my own blog that will focus on Enviornmental issues within my local area of Lancashire and ecostreet is an inspiration. I have already picked up some great green tips that will help me personally and i am eager to get started on my own posts.

  • Lovely idea, and great to discover a blog with such creative green ideas!
