Mackie’s of Scotland make ice cream with fresh milk, cream and renewable energy. They have installed a single Vestas V52 wind turbine and aim to become Britain’s greenest company by making more energy than they consume. In the past year, the wind turbine has provided 65% of the electricity requirements for Mackie’s, and they have decided to add the declaration: “made with renewable power”, to their tubs. As the wind-power logo originally designed for the tubs has been likened to a toothpick, Mackie’s are now holding a design competition where you can win 25 tubs of Mackie’s wind-powered ice cream for designing the winning logo that will make it clear to consumers that this ice cream is made with Mackie’s own renewable energy.
