Penney Poyzer, of No Waste Like Home fame, gave birth to a daughter last week and took her placenta home to compost it.

” The placenta would only have been incinerated and what a waste of goodness that would have been!” said Penney.

In an interview with grownupgreen, Penney talks about her natural birth, and how she and husband Gil Schalom will be ensuring that daughter Jasmine grows up green.

  • We did the same thing for our two daughters, though we didn’t exactly compost it- we buried it under a tree in our yard.
