I’ve just discovered the UK government’s new Act On CO2 carbon calculator via Gareth Kane’s Eco-Living blog. I liked it, it’s easy to use and seems to include a fair bit more than some other calculators that I’ve used before. Gareth agrees that the calculator is swish and easy to use, but points out that it doesn’t include factors like food, clothing and waste.

What I liked about the government’s carbon calculator:

  • Comparison of your carbon emissions against national average.
  • Comparison of your carbon emissions against target average.
  • Option to work out your personal or household emissions.
  • A personalised action plan to reduce your carbon emissions.
  • An optional automated email reminder.

Try the Act on CO2 carbon calculator.

I found Act on CO2 calculator to be great as well. I blogged about it here: http://tinyurl.com/2xc2bv

The area where this calculator really excels is in its personalised action plan, which provides a range of actions that can be undertaken by the user. Best of all there is not the slightest mention of carbon offsetting.

But I just wonder how accurate these online tools actually are?
