That is really great. It's refreshing to hear things like this. Hopefully more people will begin to take the environment into consideration when planning for events like weddings.

radness! i was just looking up info on green weddings like two days ago. a good friend of mine is about to get married and i stumbled upon a south african blog on preparing for your wedding. i couldn't help thinking about the amount of money people spend on weddings and random stuff for one day. there are so many ways to do it more sustainably.
one lovely trend i have noticed here in SA is giving favours to guests which are made by previously disadvantaged community groups. at a recent wedding, the bride gave beaded photo frames made by women in townships in Cape Town. also, the venue they had their wedding at belonged to some church who donates all their profit to their charitable projects. why don't more people think this way? if you're going to spend all that money, try and spend it on people who really need it.

Good for them! It's far more romantic to do something unusual like this, why follow the herd? they have achieved something lovely and positive. It makes me grin from ear to ear.
