Ionian Eco Villagers offers self-catering villas, cottages and studios in secluded locations on the Greek island of Zakynthos. A quieter and green alternative for those seeking to enjoy the secrets and pleasures of unspoiled rural Greece.

Holidays here cater to the more discerning traveller and are ideally suited to couples or families wishing to escape mass tourist resorts. Accommodation is in the beautiful villages of Gerakas and Vassilikos and is of high standard, set in lush, green gardens and olive groves surrounded by wild flower meadows and pine forested hills.

The beach of Gerakas is  unspoilt, and with its crescent of golden sand is protected from the open seas and prevailing winds by the clay cliffs of Geraki Cape. Gerakas Village is a small, semi-rural community situated on the southern-most tip of Zakynthos Island, within the boundaries of the National Marine Park. The safe shallow waters of Gerakas beach are ideal for children and for cooling off on those glorious hot sunny days.

Vassilikos is situated on the south-eastern part of the island, and together with its sandy beaches, turquoise waters and pine clad hills it is one of the most beautiful and peaceful regions of Zakynthos. The village is approx 10 min drive from Gerakas beach, and 20 min from Zakynthos Town.

Ionian Eco Villagers offers eco-friendly activities and excursions and is associated with Earth, Sea & Sky volunteers, who provide information on local wildlife and surrounding habitats.

Marathea Farm is located near to Marathea Village, which is10 km from the picturesque harbour of Gytheion, in the southern Peloponnese. The farm is set between forest, mountains and the sea. Clean air, rare wild flowers and plants, ancient temples and classical theatres, Byzantine monasteries and churches in the region of Lakonia all help to make your stay at the farm an unforgettable experience.

On most evenings, guests eat together around a large table in the old square of Marathea village and the menu includes organic produce from the surrounding countryside and Marathea Farm. Local musicians will also come to play, more often than not.

The farm has also been running a series of creative seminars for several years with professional teachers, which you can participate in and combine this with excursions or walks along ancient paths. Organic olive oil, wine and honey are produced by traditional methods, and you have the opportunity to try them and buy them.if you so wish.

A quiet beach lies 4 km from the farm, and once a day the farm's new bus commutes back and forth between beach and farm, allowing you to enjoy sun, sea and sand every day.

The property is built in traditional style and is equipped with all modern facilities. There are eight twin-bedded studios, all with shower and kitchenette with fridge. The four ground floor studios have a veranda with view of the sea. The first floor has a balcony with views of the Taygetos mountain. There are also facilities for disabled people, two studios have special doors and toilets. The drinking water comes from the farm's own well.
