What’s your GreenIQ?

greeniq.gifThe biggest complaint I’ve heard from users of carbon calculators is that they don’t take food and other lifestyle choices into account. Well, here’s one that does. GreenIQ looks at your food and drink choices, what beauty products you use, and your daily habits, along with the big stuff like travel, flights, your type of home and energy usage to deliver your scientifically calculated personal score. What I noticed when filling out the questionnaire was a lot more detail to the little things, like, for example, whether or not you buy carbon offsets when travelling, if you choose to wash only full loads of dishes and laundry, and whether you say no to receipts at the ATM. GreenIQ then offer tips and recommendations on how to improve your score and boost your green credentials.

The site is pretty new and not all features are live yet, but it has some interesting developments in the pipeline that are worth watching out for:

  • A Personal Green Goals programme where you can set your goals and GreenIQ will follow up with you to assist in reaching the goals.
  • A community area where you can meet up with others who are living green for support, friendship and chats.
  • A personal space called the GreenPad.
  • An environmental weight scale that will eventually be able to tell you which city, state and even professional is the greenst.

The calculator is US only.
