As we gear up for the holiday season, don’t get drawn in to the shopping frenzy with all the plastic, the sparkles and the tat. Here’s an idea: only give handmade gifts this Christmas. Buy handmade items, preferably Fairtrade or from your local Country Market, or even make them yourself. Pledge to buy Handmade now!

I love the idea of handmade gifts for Christmas. Even better green handmade gifts! If anyone needs some green crafting ideas, I have free patterns and ideas at my website http://www.myrecycledbags.com where everything is made using recycled materials. Such as plastic grocery bags, vcr tape, cassette tapes, old denim jeans, and other materials. Check it out and let’s have ourselves a really green Christmas!!

I’m making all my Christmas cards this year, making several gifts and the rest will be either fairtrade or second hand (obviously good quality almost new second hand but that’s not too difficult to find!).

I have been doing the homemade gifts every year.
All of us (friends) are required to make a gift for each other not only because it is green but sentimental reasons also.

My family always make handmade gifts for each other at Christmas – it’s great because it eliminates souless present lists and you never know what you’re going to get (except I sort of cheat because I handmake organic skin care for a living so everyone knows what they’re going to get from me!).
