The 1,000,000th compost bin is being delivered in the UK this week, and to celebrate Recycle Now’s Compost at Home team and Waste Aware Scotland brought a bit of glitz and glamour to home composting in Trafalgar Square yesterday with a bit of help from Lea of Big Brother fame. 30 home composters were given away to members of the public.

You can also be a winner if you buy a compost bin this week (21-28 August 2006) from a WRAP Home Composting Campaign scheme. There will be a prize draw with three winners drawn randomly by computer – 1st prize will be £2000 of vouchers which can be redeemed at any of 2,000 garden centres across the UK, 2nd prize will be £1000 of vouchers and 3rd prize will be £500 of vouchers. All in all, not a bad week to start composting!
