Fox News: Trees cause global warming

by Tracy Stokes on September 5, 2007

in Climate Change

While we are aware that this study proves that trees produce some methane, isn’t it just what we’ve come to expect from Fox News to report that trees cause global warming. Trees are part of the natural world and its natural cycle. People are causing global warming. It’s unclear whether the folks at Fox New are still in denial about global warming, but it seems they still slant their reporting in a way that keep us from facing up to man’s and industry’s responsibility in this matter.

Any one with any common sense knows trees do not cause global warming. Before widespread human impact through deforestation occurred on the earth, there were far more trees and more tree coverage, and the temperature were LOWER. Trees capture sunlight and convert the light and heat into ‘stored energy’ through photosynthesis, which falls to the ground and is compacted. All those oil reserves that power your cars today, are these stored carbohydrate molecules that trees captures and stored. You take away these trees, and the energy hits the ground, warms the ground, and irradiates through the night (like blacktop pavement, for example) increasing the ambient heat.

Apply a simple man’s test: where is it cooler to stand? Out in the open sun, or underneath a shade tree? The more trees around your house, the cooler it is. Hold in your hand and find out which is cooler… a working leaf that has been sitting in the sun all day, or a piece of tin or a rock? Obviously, the leaf. Its working to capturing those photons and using the energy in photosynthesis, thereby reducing ambient global temperatures. Where is it cooler to stand, in a forest surrounded by trees, or in a desert, where there are no trees at all.

Further when humanity burns fossil fuels on an epic scale, they release these stored energies, and all the black top asphalt of roads and parking lots and on roofs laid down further captures this energy and irradiates it out during the day and night.

Matt September 7, 2007 at 4:02 am

It appears they are just reporting on a study from Stanford and Germany…So its not really fox that says it, its researchers.

jim September 7, 2007 at 4:13 am

What the fuck is wrong with Fox News? They have to make some sort of new bold statement every day.

Kris Bravo September 7, 2007 at 4:15 am

Notice they didn’t come to the logical conclusion – if that study is correct, it’s a self-governing issue. Since it’s “trees” in colder climates producing the methane and the climate is getting warmer, less of these trees will produce methane in the future, throttling back their contribution. So that should be measurable in the fringes between the colder and warmer climates.

Getting away from the absurd message they have, they also forget that trees recirculate carbon in the SURFACE SOIL of the planet. They don’t dig it up from hundreds of feet below and throw it into the air.

Recycled CO2 ain’t the problem – it’s the spewing of buried carbon deposits.

Nick September 7, 2007 at 4:39 am

Well I don’t know about the rest of you but that excellent reporting left me _pretty convinced_ that the 98% of all climatologists who agree on the primary causes of recent global warming are _just_ _plain_ _wrong_

Geane Phillips September 7, 2007 at 5:14 am

Not true! The sun causes global warming! LOL

Matthew September 7, 2007 at 5:20 am

They gotta be kidding right? Everyone knows that they provide false news but do they have to be so obvious? lol

Buddy Priefert September 7, 2007 at 5:44 am

Oh, that’s right. Stanford wasted hundreds of thousands of $ on the research. Gosh, if they’d had only consulted your expertise on what are the true causes of Global Warming. Fox News is just doing the reporting fella.

Geoff September 7, 2007 at 5:45 am

AC September 7, 2007 at 6:18 am

Another triumph for FOX News!

I’m taking my HUMMER out right now to run over some of them earth-hating trees…

JH September 7, 2007 at 8:05 am

Uh, Geane, the Sun DOES cause global warming and cooling. The largest greenhouse gas is WATER VAPOR not CO2. Man-made global warming is a political tool to tax things that breathe and have a bank account (all us useless eaters). Since growing trees absorb more CO2, which is stored in the trunk as carbon, cutting down old forests and planting new trees would, in fact, cut down on CO2 in the atmosphere. So what we should do is first go to work on those bastard oceans (i recommend dropping every nuke we got into them at the same time) then get a couple million chainsaws and teach those friggin forests who the boss is. After that we’ll each drink the poison kool-aid. Then we’ll finally be living in a perfect world. I can’t wait to see it!

Ivor Biggun September 7, 2007 at 8:21 am

Why isn’t anybody pissing on the Max Planck institute? Remember, FNC is just reporting this, not making the news. Jeez, apparently most of you folks are media illiterates.

PatriQ September 7, 2007 at 10:04 am

Es que sois tontos y prepotentes a más no poder los americanos.

Espero que haya alguien allí con algo de sentido común, sino estamos todos apañados.

Bush vete ya.

Azad September 7, 2007 at 10:19 am

See what they are gonna come up with next. Stop farting or something of that type should follow this report!
It’s America and it’s Fox News!!! What can u say!

Adam September 7, 2007 at 10:48 am

What the hell is wrong with you people!? You’re all brainwashed by the left to believe that anything man does automatically does harm to the environment. Has anyone opened up a textbook and noticed that CO2 makes up less than FIVE PERCENT of the troposphere and has little or no effect on the weather itself? Has anyone ever thought that even with the increase of auto use in this country that the global temperature has gone down in the past? Look at history and also think that the liberal media is doing nothing but brainwash people into thinking that living a normal life is doing nothing but absolute harm to this planet. The eco movement is a sham. It always has, and it always will be. Anyone that believes the crap spewed from public figures’ mouths like Al Gore need to stop acting like lemmings and think for themselves for a change.

TJ September 7, 2007 at 11:16 am

None of this matters anyway. We’ll be out of completely oil in 50 years or less.

Once there’s no more fossil fuels being burnt globl warming will go away. So will a rather large chunk of the human race.

phuknjrk September 7, 2007 at 12:44 pm

So Fox reports someone else’s research,
and you decide if enough facts are presented..

Sounds right to me..

Doug September 7, 2007 at 1:03 pm

Oh yeah, let’s not rush to judgment. Let’s wait until we’re sure it’s too late to do anything.

Hmm, isn’t there something else that trees and plants make as a byproduct of photosynthesis that animals need. Maybe OXYGEN?

Max September 7, 2007 at 1:24 pm

I’m still trying to figure out why we want to preserve glaciers. Sure holes in the ozone cause might cause more cancer, well maybe for anyone that manages to receive direct sun light at either of the poles.

I’m certainly no geologist or a politician, but its obvious that we lack the technology to wilfully control our environment. Taxing people is just all about money. What super weather ray is big government building with all the environment related taxes?

TNNT September 7, 2007 at 1:52 pm

Things like this have caused me to lose all trust in republicans or just conservatives in general… what irrisponsible whiney group of people that can’t seem to be able to use rational logic. News up next “gays cause cancer”

Dave September 7, 2007 at 2:20 pm

Yes, we will be out of oil soon but we have plenty of coal — it only gets worse for us from here.

Lawk Salih September 7, 2007 at 3:21 pm

We should call them Toxic News instead of Fox news.

big kev September 7, 2007 at 3:58 pm

Notice how the said tree huggers to beging with.

I guess that was an unbiased piece of reporting

mikelee September 7, 2007 at 4:00 pm

Geoff, did you just say that the ice at the poles are thick[en]ing? That is not true at all. A hoax? Do you realize how subtly screwed up the weather has been recently? Carbon emissions is at an all time high due to humans and growing exponentially. How do you think the government is trying to implicate a carbon tax on everybody when they are the ones DENYING global warming? Use your head and the little logic you may have.

Al Gore September 7, 2007 at 4:12 pm

Wow! Why can’t industry leaders simply step up for all humanity by accepting the fact that we impact our environment in negative fashion?

It shouldn’t matter what your stance is on global warming, if you believe it is happening or you don’t. The fact that it may be happening, or could happen, or that we’re simply hurting our environment should be enough motivation to move to cleaner energy sources. To change our way of life as humans, as best we can.

Then you get mainstream media like FOX News who decides to push everyone in the opposite direction. I believe their story is complete nonsense, and it only acts as a means to justify our acts. It’s nothing short of stupid. …How I hate mainstream media. (Besides, haven’t we decreased the total amount of forest world wide already?) Ugh!

This just in! Burning tires will cause more rainfall, resulting in more plant growth!

Jack Mehoffer September 7, 2007 at 4:33 pm

Faux News
We distort, you comply.

Tim September 7, 2007 at 5:14 pm

I am quite tired of people talking about all the water vapor in the air and the methane that comes from trees. Those things aren’t the problem, because they’ve always been there. They warm the Earth to its normal temperature.

The problem with our production of CO2 is that we’re taking previously sequestered carbon and releasing it into the air. This net increase of carbon is the driving force behind global warming.

Concerning the old growth forests: since those tree have grown pretty much as tall as they’re going to grow, they are now useless as tools for sequestering CO2. If we cut down the oldest trees and use them for things like buildings and furniture, then we’re both sequestering CO2 AND producing useful commodities.

As long as we replace the old trees with saplings that sequester high amounts of carbon for growing taller, then everyone wins: atmospheric carbon is reduced, lumberjacks and the like have more work (therefore benefiting the economy), and the forests stay healthy.

Devon Cayer September 7, 2007 at 7:58 pm

okay seriously, you supporters of Fox News have ABSOLUTELY BASELESS COMMENTS! you freaking say that water absorbs most IR, have you heard of the water cycle you idiots. Water gets heated up and CONDENSES YOU MORONS! co2 is a gas you freakin inbreds. It has such a low condensation temperature that it doesn’t condense back down. Water may absorbs the most IR because it is the most abundant freaking molecule on this planet, so duh it gets heat stored in it with a heat capacity of 4.184 J/degree. So that argument is void. Second dumb fox person argument, that CO2 levels from increased autoproduction or peaks in oil consumption causes more heating but this wasn’t observed in historical records. It actually has, but you are dumb for contradicting it. You actually were looking at global temperatures and not isolated urban settings. Where the temperatures were said to increase. Third it takes time for co2 to diffuse through I don’t know the entire atmospheric VOLUME OF THE EARTH! ITS EFFECT ISNT IMMEDIATE THERE IS A NATURAL DELAY! Your last argument that co2 composes such a small portion of the atmosphere HAS ABSOLUTELY NO MEANING! it doesn’t matter if you put a speck of metal in a glass of water IT WILL GET HOTTER DUE TO ITS SMALLER HEAT CAPACITY. very minute amounts of toxins can kill you. very minute amounts of carbon dioxide traps heat like crazy, look up the absorption of a typical c=o stretch in the IR FREQUENCY ITS SUCH A STRONG ABSORPTION! Lastly, you freaking Fox News trolls are so god damn stubborn. Open your eyes to how RIDICULOUS a statement is that TREES, TREES!!! cause global warming. I mean .. honestly, are YOU KIDDING ME!? Trees are the only reason there is life on this planet, they produce glucose and emit OXYGEN! you know the stuff that keeps you alive? I mean my god, how far are you freaking neo-cons gonna stretch your own personal ignorance to satisfy your insatiable desires and selfish propensities I mean my god, open your eyes, make a change in your life by not being so god damn selfish. you can change the world if everyone else helps in the same way. It’s not about a carbon tax for environmentalists or pragmatic individuals, its about maintaining this beautiful earth for future generations. Taxes mean shit to me, i’d rather see the fulfillment of ideals and progress and dreams than worrying about the almighty dollar. So greedy, all of you are what is wrong with society, and AMERICA!

Matt September 7, 2007 at 8:15 pm

This news is old. The original paper came out 2 or so years ago and anytime mainstream media attempts to report on some conclusion found they blow it up to be this huge event. It’s been a slow week I guess, so why not report on the evil trees. Anything the news says about any research take it with a grain of salt.

Bubba September 7, 2007 at 9:16 pm

Blatant use and promotion of Ad Hominem attacks isn’t going to convince anyone of anthropomorphic global warming–except perhaps the dullards. Instead of attacking Fox, please tell us what is wrong with the study Fox is reporting on (besides the fact that you obviously disagree with the study’s implications).

Thetinguy September 7, 2007 at 10:35 pm

But it’s true. Trees create more methane. 90% of all carbon dioxide reduction come from plants in WATER. If you wanted to stop global warming, stop destroying the ocean. Oxygen generation and carbon dioxide reduction happen in the space from the coast line to about 150 miles out to sea.

Geppetto September 8, 2007 at 9:22 am

This is probably as good a time as any to say I’m sorry. It was all my fault. I’ll try to do better next time if I ever get the chance. Do you remember the Sahara Rain Forrest? Well, it’s my fault it’s gone. Yep, it was me and only me. It’s gone now and I’m sorry. Now that you know, you will wonder who is responsible for the demise of the Gobi Rain Forrest. Nope, it wasn’t me. It was someone else. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. I just thought you should know. Again, I’m sorry.

Oh yea… Fox News or is it Faux news? I stopped watching it several years ago when they interrupted an interview with someone in here in the US to go to a ‘breaking news alert’ with one of our military spokespeople in Iraq. It got my attention and I started listening to what he was saying. Then they interrupted the Iraq breaking news alert with an even more important ‘breaking news alert’. The family of Michael Jackson was arriving at the courthouse for his trial. It wasn’t even him. It was his family! They interrupted the interruption with Michael Jacksons’ family arriving at the courthouse! What a waste of bandwidth and the airwaves.

potoolo September 9, 2007 at 5:26 pm

I’m afraid most of you are wrong 😉 concerning global warming. What truly and really is causing G.W. is not CO2 or the Sun but the increasing number of lobotomized people who are shouting at four winds, “G.W. is taking place”. If there would be a way to put all these people in a closed room, then, G.W. would vanish. So consistent is G.W.!!

potoolo September 11, 2007 at 3:54 pm

Hi! 煎蛋
Well, this is what I’ve already checked in order to determine G.W. is = Global Junk Science.
I’ve watched: (independent video docus)
1º The Greenhouse conspiracy (1990 – CH4-UK)
2º The great global warming swindle (2007 – CH4-UK)
3º Little Ice Age; Big Chill (2005 – History Channel)
4º EXPOSED: Climate of fear (CNN)
5º Global warming: Doomsday Called Off (CBC – Canada)
6º Global Warming: Bush’s Climate of fear (Panorama – BBC)

Of course, I have not missed a-must-to-read 2 great websites; fist one is
Leaded by not-for-sale scientists who have broken into small pieces with evidences and ethic research the holy grail of “warming fools team”: the joystick theory. So, no joystick-no nothing.
… another not-for-sale scientist website which provides a list sorted by alpha of nearly 18000 scientist who are 100% against absolutely-no-base G.W. junk-theory.
By the way I read some where last recount of scientist who are supporting “the climate of fear”, … … Hummm! Just a bunch.
Sorry, 煎蛋, Are you a troll? Or just not properly informed?

Tom September 14, 2007 at 9:29 pm

The report is true: trees produce about a third of the methane in the atmosphere, one of the greenhouse gases.

“A recent scientific experiment has also yielded results pointing to the fact that all plants produce methane, and as the climate warms they produce more. In fact 600 million metric tons of methane a year are produced, 225 of those produced by plants.” -From

Greg September 18, 2007 at 2:37 am

It’s incredible how people tend to ignore the facts. Trees are, IN FACT, responsible for methane production. They are also responsible for “sucking” up C02. Methane, like any well educated person would know, is much more impacting in the case of global warming than CO2.

Denial is… well… stupidity in lay man’s terms. Global Warming exists and is cyclic in every way, shape, and form. There is science and there is opinion. Now can we stop bathing in our own egos and open our minds so the facts may flow freely?

And, finally, to the criticisms based on the sole idea of “Fox News’ lies”: grow up. It’s easy to refute something that comes from someone you hate but when you don’t even bother researching this topic, you only prove to me and to others that you fail at life. Hell, you have the internet at your fingertips. Use it.

Floridian October 10, 2007 at 1:46 am

Global Warming Impact Day 1 – Some say the full brunt of the global warming storm will hit on the day we least expect it!

viviana wilson October 17, 2007 at 7:32 am

I just can believe that people are so stupid … so what we are going back to the “dark ages”…. everyone knows that trees are harmless….

Pam March 31, 2008 at 2:31 pm

Climatologists will tell you that the Earth is due for another Ice Age (no, I’m not kidding), a FAR scarier scenario than the bogus claims of those touting global warming. I agree with Goeff, it is an excuse to tax us, which has already begun in some places. If you believe the Earth is warming, I suggest you move to New Hampshire….you’ll change your mind!

Denier June 2, 2008 at 7:33 am

Aside from the fact that anyone with an ounce of common sense can see what a pile of crap “man made global warming” is… what is your beef with Fox reporting this? They report everything, they’re a 24 hour news channel!!! I suspect that even the whacked out liberal 3 networks and the other cable news channels reported this as well. I know the far left Associated Press has run the story.

Anyway, the really funny part is that Shep Smith (the host of Fox’s hard news program “The Fox Report” as well as Studio B, and featured in your clip above, is a brainwashed global warming zombie who is on YOUR environut side! Hahaha, seriously!!! He ridiculous those of us who see that global warming is nonsense regularly because he’s a sheep like the rest of you. Please choose your target more wisely next time.

And once again, this was a story out on the wires geniuses not “Fox News” making this claim. Your very headline is dishonest, but luckily, your entire life is about being dishonest, which is why all of your friends link here using similarly dishonest headlines and you all have a big smug fest in your Priuses.

Javier June 5, 2008 at 4:08 am

Reflection on the global warming.

Unchecked pollution, and if nothing is done soon, it will be too late to take steps to slow global warming, because it will come to such a degree that the warming will no longer view point of return and that alone will happen in the coming decades. It is said that in this century global temperature of the Earth will increase from 1 to 6 degrees, perhaps nothing does not seem at first glance. But increased by grade level will bring very drastic consequences. When the ground reaches 3rd level of increase will no longer be able to do anything, because the warming is going to turn uncontrollable and lead to the disappearance of the Amazon because of huge fires that are going to be impossible to stop, that is very serious because automatically cause the temperature rises 1 or 2 degrees. And well the 4th grade, sea level rise due to melting of the poles of Antarctica, disappearing all countries with coasts, or that costs will be the South American 1eras seriously affected. Apart melting in Antarctica today is already a reality. This happening in a more accelerated what was predicted. The volume containing all bodies of ice existing in the planet, could cause the sea level rose from 60 to 70 m! It is going to see supertormentas never before seen, and this enormous disaster will happen much sooner than we think, maybe even what we live, but so are our children. These are some of the innumerable consequences that will bring climate change and indeed perhaps there are many other things that neither we, nor imagine that they can get to happen. Climate change and what we are living. Major natural disasters that occurred before each decades, now increasingly occur more often. These phenomena occur with ever more frequency and intensity. The shedding of large blocks of ice is occurring in at the poles, ice masses giants hundred km. square. While the release of those blocks that collapse will not have an effect on sea level rise, it means a warning that something is not amiss, because those such landslides are not unusual, it is because of global warming as scientists point out . And that is the area most affected by warming, and Antarctica is the area that suffered most to the increase in temperature. Obviously this planet we say that this reaches its limit, and this warning us. We are in an era in which we must take proper account of the environment and learn to survive what we are going to face, which will be a very tough battle for survival, not because we are going to cheat, little is going to do for this issue, or when actually find a solution because it will be too late. And the underdeveloped countries will suffer the greatest impact. This would cause enormous global crises in the economic and human losses. Wars over scarce natural resources, and one of the main causes is by water scarcity. It is very difficult, because we must change the mentality of people, change our ways of living, and that is not an overnight. And there are other interests through playing, the profit motive and expansion of the 1st world countries and those of developing countries, affecting more even look for new alternatives that are eco-development, such an alternative is solar and wind energy but also other possibilities exist. So it is very difficult to change a system already dominant globally that governs our society. Otherwise we can perhaps say that the big culprit is the capitalist system, but speaking from the stage of industrial development. The industries are deriving the large percentage of greenhouse gases that harm the environment. But we think that is going to do much more for this cause and that the man be convinced that there is no other if we want our preservation. Man is an animal usual for that side emerges perhaps some hope, but we do not have much time. We must seek solutions to prevent such predictions of climatic disasters that do not occur and not seek solutions to face them in tomorrow. Prevention is better than cure fits very well in this issue. And I think one thing is certain the economic cost would be greatly enhanced if we continue at the same rants, which means cities rebuild depleted by natural disasters that actually happens but will become somewhat more common and more destructive power, possible new diseases that may occur, the scarcity of resources would make certain that these were of very high cost to achieve them, and this is very clear, not everyone can access them, will be very few, there will be wars over them, and good due to the increased level Sea, countries with fewer resources can not be saved. And the richest countries seek solutions to build, blocks species barrier wall to prevent giants are under water. What is an injustice because perhaps they can save a few, those with more resources and are more powerful, which in turn are those that pollute more. Can you imagine what could become the economic cost? would be astronomical figures, but most importantly
certainly is the human cost that this will cause. No doubt that this education will be key, since the institutes and households. It is time to really know and act. It can no longer be ignored, but details more details, climate change is a reality and is largely due to the action of man, so I have no doubt. I believe that the climate undergoes natural changes but I think that man has accelerated this process. But apart think this, what do we leave them to those who come to future generations and other living things? Many people think that perhaps this might happen, but you downplay because they think that they will play in their lives or who will move in a long time, but as I said earlier, with those who will come? Suffered the consequences of what they did their predecessors.
Then I will say more in detail which can cause increased by grade level according to Mark Lynas in a book he wrote entitled “Six Degrees” (six degrees).
A degree more: it would remove the arctic ice.
Lynas raises the disappearance of arctic ice for half a year if the temperature rises one degree centigrade. In addition, the tides could submerge all houses on the coast of the Bay of Bengal, between Burma and India, where inhabit more than one million people. It would have hurricanes in the South Atlanta, severe droughts in the western United States are located where cities like San Diego, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Los Angeles and would be unexpected changes in farming in England, where there are over 400 wineries.
Over 2 degrees: No more barriers reefs.
It would accelerate the melting of glaciers of Greenland. The Jakobshavn Glacier would follow that if portions of ice melts would be sufficient to supply drinking water to all residents of New York for one year. The extinction of polar bears would not be going back and insects could begin to migrate to many regions that have become more temperate, a fact that is already evident in parts of Brazil, Venezuela and Colombia. The island nation of Tuvalu in the South Pacific, could be submerged by tidal barriers and reefs disappear, because not stand the increase in water temperature.
Over 3 degrees: the threat would fall on the Amazon jungle
The snow will end up in the Alps and heat waves would be the norm in the Mediterranean and in the middle of Central Europe. The hurricanes of Category 6, worse than Katrina, would be more frequent and the Amazon jungle could disappear by the spread of fires.
More 4 degrees: Venice would disappear and part of Egypt. The melting of glaciers in the Himalayas, which feed the Ganges River, would occur before 2035. The floods are frequent. In addition, it produces water without snow, there would be famine. The northern Canada became the most prolific agricultural area of the planet and ice in western Antarctica could collapse by raising the sea level until the destruction of coastal areas of americas America. It was also completely flood Venice (Italy) and areas of Egypt and Bangladesh.
Over 5 degrees: there would be no water for Los Angeles, Cairo, Lima or Mumbai.
Faced with such a scenario, the war in the liquid would be imminent, a situation that many of the world’s experts have announced.
Over 6 degrees: we returned to Cretaceous period.
For lack of nutrients, and to the extinction of more than 70 percent of species, the ocean would be bright blue. Deserts advance on the continents. The disaster would be a matter of every day and many major world cities, like New York would be underwater. The world could resemble the Cretaceous period, 144 million years ago, in which only 18 per cent of the Earth’s surface was on the water level, that figure today is close to 30 percent.
I am convinced and I firmly believe in this. I also believe that this century will be key because it will mark the course of humanity. I think we are at the right time to change or condemn us to extinction.
Let me that I accept and respect for people who disagree, only express my thoughts.
This simply is aimed to inform and raise awareness.
I know that not long ago, that really what is the action would cause changes, but the information is also very important, awareness is the 1st step.
Of course I want to make something more but so far as not.
At the moment I’m finishing secondary. Then I want to do and then make meteorology degree in atmospheric science. Because I’m interested in studying the behavior and climate variability and the consequences that brings so much and can bring climate change.
If someone wants to contact me, or if I can advise that I have all options for further study of atmospheric sciences, my mail is:
Since I already thank you very much for this blog for giving me the opportunity to leave this message and so many others.
I take to communicate across these blogs dealing with the issue of climate change or global warming because the people who visit is more likely to be interested in this topic.
Thank you very much.
A big greeting

Trees release water vapor. Water vapor is both the most plentiful and most efficiently heat-trapping of the greenhouse gases.

Water vapor nearly completely overlaps CO2 in it’s energy absorption spectrum.

There are more trees in north america now than when we came here. You can only plant 3 trees for every one you cut down for so long before we’ve replaced what we’ve taken. Temp trends in the northern hemisphere show a net COOLING as we get more trees and their water vapor concentration blocks more of the suns radiation, thus we cool.

In the southern hemisphere, we’ve taken more trees than put back thanks to the destruction of the largest forests on earth, the rain forest. As they reduce their trees, they have less water vapor. Data shows that in the same period NA is cooling from more water vapor caused by more trees, the southern hemisphere is WARMING and getting drier.

So, trees don’t actually cause global warming, but their ABSENCE does. But, this is up to a point. We plant or save too many, we’ll enter a new ice age. Remove too many, we’ll have global warming and drought.

You won’t hear any scientists on the news talking about this because:

Robert January 18, 2009 at 2:08 am

To Devon Cayer:

LOL, I stopped reading your post when you said “water vapor warms and condenses you morons”.

When you warm water, it evaporates into water vapor. When this vapor is COOLED, it condenses back into liquid water.

Please do not start a thousand word reply with a scientific fallacy. It is a waste of time because it removes all credibility from the rest of your post, thus wasting everyone’s time.

devon May 16, 2009 at 4:31 am

I can tell you are quite the scientist. Are you familiar with equilibrium? Probably not. If you have too much water vapor, it forms what we call clouds. When you get too much moisture in the air, it condenses and falls back down to the earth. It has nothing to do with “cooling”. But you keep going with them scientific principles you know so well. idiot.

Larry September 8, 2009 at 7:56 pm

Global warming is a crock of garbage. Lies.

Dell December 21, 2009 at 11:38 pm

There are much warmer periods in the Earth’s history than now. It’s actually pretty cool now. Also, on a global time-scale, CO2 concentration in the atmosphere is historically low.

Don’t be scared to death!

We need to do what we can for the environment: don’t pollute, don’t poison, don’t waste, don’t overfish, replant, recycle, filter and purify, desalinate, protect what’s endangered, find and use alternatives to fossil fuels (mostly because they will run out), but mostly – CALM THE #@$% DOWN!

Trying to make people feel miserable for existing is not going to change a climate cycle that is bigger than we are – especially one we do not understand.

ALL extremes are bad – whichever side uses them.

WAKE UP and use your own mind! Use credible research by scientists who are NOT getting rich off of something. Don’t be sheep!

BTW – Water Vapor IS a gas – just like CO2.

I don’t get it. You still have to take the 240v that comes out of the microinverter and transform/rectify it to charging voltage for the batteries. So the microinverter just adds another 8% loss to the system, compared to a DC-out MPTT controller like FlexMax 80. Also, much of Andalay’s propaganda is bogus — nobody in their right mind has 600 VDC wiring, shadows on one panel don’t affect the output of other panels, etc. Yeah, this system makes sense if all you want to do is pretend to sell electricity back to the grid (note: they might buy it, but it doesn’t really go anywhere except into heat at the first transformer), but if you actually want to USE the generated electricity, a conventional system is much more efficient.

Many people think that trees take carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. This is wrong, the trees during the day takes carbon dioxide and produce oxygen, and the night takes oxygen and produces carbon dioxide. Fortunately the day is longer than night, trees produce more oxygen than carbon dioxide.

Trees don’t cause global warming! It’s from the works of people and have they’ve done! Because of the past growing technologies, factories, transportation and many machines that causes pollution. Its affects the global warming and our mother earth! 🙂 Instead of fighting whether the blog is right or wrong, we should just take care of our surroundings to protect the earth :)))))))))
