Positive figures for the future

I was so pleased to read this piece in the Daily Record, that I’m quoting it, in its entirety for your reading pleasure.  It’s simple, straightforward and to the point.

AROUND 20 per cent of the world’s energy comes from renewable resources.

In Europe, this clean energy accounts for six per cent with a target of 12 per cent set for 2010.

Around 80 per cent of solar thermal collectors in the EU are in Germany, Greece and Austria.

Almost two-thirds of Greek homes heat water by this method.

Wavepower isn’t used much but it has potential. Portugal has an offshore facility which generates around 2MW a year. But estimates show Britain’s coastline could supply three times the current electricity of the UK.
